Responsibilities:

  • Provide Safety, Health and Environment supervision during the construction phase of the Project
  • Supervise the Safety, Health and Environment Department
  • Ensure that the work is carried out in line with the Legal, Contract and Company Safety, Health and Environment standards and procedures
  • Planning, control and management of the SHE Department on site.
  • Report writing, document control, compiling and evaluating statistics, trend analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative measures
  • Develop in conjunction with the Group SHE Manager and the Senior Construction Manager the SHE Plan for the project and ensure that it is implemented as required.
  • Develop in conjunction with the Group SHE Manager and the Senior Construction Manager the Fall Protection Plan for the project and ensure that it is implemented as required.
  • Plan, implement, and execute Safety Management Plan and Programme.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and performance reviews to ensure compliance.
  • Evaluation and analysis of previous injury reports.
  • Promote a working environment free of risk and hazards to employees.
  • Manage and control costs (where allocated budget responsibility is assigned) regarding the SHE budgets for the project.
  • Provide guidance with the Project Management team regarding Safety, Health and Environmental issues and ensuring site compliance with Legal, Contract and Company SHE standards and procedures.
  • Identify training shortcomings and arrange training to be conducted            

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 together with Certificates in the following: Incident Investigation with RCAT, SAMTRAC, Fall Protection Plan Developer, Working at Heights Rescuer, First Aid Level 3, Legal Liability, HIRA (Risk Assessment), Construction Regulations, and OSH Act Training
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Site SHE Manager in preferably the Mechanical Engineering and Construction industry
  • Computer literate
  • Registered with SACPCMP as a Construction SHE Manager
  • Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license
