System Engineer III needed at Capitec Bank

About the role:

• In this role, you’ll take the lead in engineering and automating Capitec’s hybrid cloud infrastructure. As a senior Systems Engineer, you will design, build, and support scalable and secure server and storage solutions—while driving automation initiatives across environments using Ansible, Terraform, and other tools. You’ll play a key part in ensuring infrastructure is resilient, future-ready, and aligned with Capitec’s digital transformation goals.
• You’ll also be a technical mentor and role model to other engineers, helping shape how we do infrastructure through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and thought leadership.

Our ideal candidate has:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud (especially AWS), and automation

Expertise in:

• AWS, Ansible, Terraform, Git,
• Python, PowerShell, Bash
• VMware, Windows & Linux servers, Storage solutions
• A relevant IT degree or diploma is preferred, but practical experience and certifications in AWS, automation, or Linux are just as important
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
• A passion for learning, leading, and improving systems and processes

Education (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology
