  • Are you passionate about mechanical maintenance and plant reliability? We’re seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to support plant performance through expert maintenance, problem-solving, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute Capital and Renewal Projects, including planning, contractor adjudication, team coordination, and cost control.
  • Conduct technical investigations and feasibility studies, identify root causes of failures, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Provide specialist mechanical support in fault-finding, breakdowns, and equipment performance improvements.
  • Coordinate and monitor statutory inspections (e.g., pressure vessels, structures) and ensure legal compliance.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, standards (QCPs), and documentation for plant equipment.
  • Utilize systems such as SAP and MDT to support maintenance planning, cost control, and shut execution.
  • Coach and guide operational teams, and step into leadership roles as needed, including stand-by responsibilities.
  • Promote and enforce safety compliance, perform plant audits and lockout inspections, and support continuous improvement aligned with Sappi Fundamentals.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification: NQF Level 6 – Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of relevant practical experience in an industrial environment.
  • Advantageous: Experience in the Pulp and Paper industry.
