What will you do?

This position provides the training ground for the senior product manager positions.

Business Description
- Sanlam Life and Savings (SLS) cluster is responsible for Sanlam’s retail business in South Africa. SLS provides clients across different market segments with a comprehensive range of appropriate and competitive financial solutions. These include traditional life insurance risk and savings products, investment, retirement, health and fiduciary services. Our products are designed to facilitate long-term wealth creation, protection, and niche financing and therefore these solutions are engineered around client needs.
Job purpose
- The Product Manager will be responsible for ensuring that Glacier has a compelling Intermediary and Client value proposition for holistic life investment solutions. The person will be responsible for the development and enhancement of these products on the Sanlam Life and Glacier platforms.
Key outcomes
The following outcomes will be expected to be achieved by the Product Manager: Life Investments:
- Providing product management insights across the product platform with particular focus on product enhancements and competitive standing of the life investments portfolio in line with the business strategy
- Setting weekly rates and managing and reviewing pricing on an ongoing basis
- Coordinating all new developments and enhancements with stakeholders incl. Actuarial, Legal & Compliance, Client Services, IT & Sales
- Providing ongoing support to the Sales and Marketing teams, inter alia
- Guiding the content and structure of marketing and other positioning material
- Proving product specific training and guidance on position of solutions to the sales teams
- Engage, as required, with corporate clients
- Develop good relationships with business partners and regulatory authorities
- Playing an active role in project planning and business development for the retirement savings and discretionary endowment products
- Researching, tracking and analysing local and international industry trends, competitors’ performance for your product set
Qualifications and experience
- BSC or BCOM degree and good progress with the Actuarial examinations toward an Associate or higher qualification or CFA charter holder
- Demonstrable track record of managing a product or service portfolio with responsibility for the key performance metrics
Knowledge
- A good knowledge of Sanlam Life’s investment and retirement savings products and the competitor land scape will be an advantage
- A good understanding of the Actuarial, tax and regulatory framework
- A good knowledge of Sanlam Life’s administration and reporting systems will be an advantage.

Qualification and Experience
