Junior Attorney – Pietermaritzburg Job at Accountancy Placements

• Our client seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Attorney to join its Legal Process Team in Pietermaritzburg.

Responsibilities

• Drafting summonses, applications, affidavits, and other legal documents
• Managing debt recovery matters and initiating legal action against debtors
• Utilising CaseLines and Court Online to monitor litigation
• Conducting deceased estate and insolvency searches
• Liaising with courts, sheriffs, correspondent attorneys, liquidators and other stakeholders
• Preparing briefs to counsel and appearing in court when required
• Managing post-judgment processes, including warrants of execution and bank account attachments
• Providing legal opinions on credit law and legislative developments

Requirements

• Completed articles and awaiting admission or recently admitted as an attorney
• Previous experience in debt recovery, civil litigation or a similar role
• Knowledge of CaseLines, Court Online and legal processes
• Strong drafting, communication, organisational and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines and work independently
