The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager: Regulatory & Legislative Drafting and their responsibilities will include:
- Provide legal guidance to Council (incl. Council committees) in executing their functions in terms of the ICASA Act
- Provide legal advice to Council, CEO, COO, EXCO/OPCO and Regulatory divisions on regulatory matters
- Draft regulations and regulatory documents/notices
- Monitor and provide input, where necessary, regarding draft legislation that may have an impact on ICASA ‘s mandate
- Represent ICASA at national & international meetings and forums
- Perform Compliance and Risk Management functions
- Draft Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with local and international regulatory authorities (incl. International bilateral agreements)
- Conduct training, workshops or presentations on topical regulatory legal matters.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Honours/ 4year degree in Law (NQF Level 8)
- Admitted attorney/ advocate
- Minimum 4 years practicing as an attorney, advocate and/or legal specialist; alternatively minimum 2 years practicing as an attorney, advocate and/or legal specialist and not less than 2 years’ experience in ICT regulatory
- Experience with handling litigation and drafting contracts/legislation
- Solid regulatory/ICT acumen (distinct/added advantage)
