Description
Job Description
- We are seeking a highly organised, detail-driven Financial Accountant to lead the daily on-site financial operations of a luxury hotel.
- In this role, you will act as the key financial lead on the ground, collaborating directly with the property General Manager and department heads, while working closely with an off-site central accounting firm and executive team. You will oversee property-level ledger management, revenue controls, inventory analytics, and local financial compliance.
Financial Control & Reporting
- Manage the on-site accounting functions, including the supervision of stock control personnel.
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, flash reports (10-day, 20-day, and month-end trading summaries), and variance analyses.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and off-site financial directors on annual budgeting, forecasting, and room revenue projections.
- Maintain bank reconciliations, perform float and petty cash audits, and manage local card processing systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, standard operating procedures, and local tax compliance (VAT/PAYE filing co-ordination).
Revenue & Guest Ledger Oversight
- Monitor daily night audit procedures, daily revenue posting, and reconciliations between Property Management Systems (PMS) and banking channels.
- Oversee accounts receivable, including ledger reconciliation, statement distribution, collections, and aged debtor reporting.
- Audit and resolve PM accounts, house accounts, and complimentary transaction allocations according to internal policy.
Procurement, Accounts Payable & Inventory
- Manage supplier accounts, perform creditor reconciliations, and handle local and international payment processing.
- Monitor gross profit margins across Food & Beverage operations, analyzing cost discrepancies to provide actionable insights to department heads.
- Oversee stock counts, operational equipment tracking, and vendor service level agreements (SLAs)
Requirements
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Software: Xero and Excel essential.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on General Ledger and high-volume financial accounting experience, ideally within the luxury hotel, resort, or broader hospitality sector.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical capabilities, uncompromising ethical standards, excellent interpersonal communication, and the ability to thrive in a confidential, high-workload environment.
- Hands-on experience with hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) like Opera.
- Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) and inventory systems (e.g., Micros / Symphony / MyInventory) and business banking portals is a strong advantage.
