Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12
  • Blasting Certificate
  • Mine Overseers Certificate Part A (preferred)

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • 3-5 Years’ Underground Mining Experience
  • 2 Years Shift Boss
  • Underground Mining
  • Supervisory and leadership skills are essential
  • Computer Skills for Material/Stock ordering
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards and Procedures
  • Problem solving
  • Planning and Leadership skills
  • Analytical and systematic
  • Integrity and objectivity
  • Risk awareness and management

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Conduct Start of shift staff planning and provide instruction to Miners.
  • Monitor processes and procedures during shift to ensure compliance to SOPs, COPs, and production targets.
  • Check stock levels and order stock to ensure that required materials are available for shift.
  • Prevent and report on breakdowns, damages and wastage of material and resources.
  • Oversee the health and safety of subordinate staff in work area.
  • Conduct end of shift safety, compliance, and reporting procedures.
  • Provide feedback to be used in reports.
  • Coordinate, monitor and supervise the performance of direct reports.
