  • We’re on the lookout for an Environmental Technician to support and contribute to the mills compliance to environmental policies, procedures and objectives, adhering to the requirements of external environmental authorities and legal licences and perform environmental tasks and reporting of environmental performance internally.

As an Environmental Technician you will be responsible for:

  • Monitor adherence to the Environmental Management System, policies, procedures, and relevant Safety & Environmental requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 accredited systems.
  • Collect, consolidate, and manage environmental data for compliance, performance reports, audits, and licence evaluations.
  • Conduct environmental inspections, informal checks, and coordinate plant surveys (noise, dust, odour, waste handling, etc.).
  • Support internal intramill audits and external environmental inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations and legal requirements.
  • Deliver environmental inductions, training, awareness campaigns, and support emergency preparedness drills.
  • Monitor environmental training records, identify gaps, and support corrective actions, mitigation measures, and project shutdowns.
  • Oversee waste disposal, emissions testing, sampling, and monitor environmental performance daily; report deviations.
  • Investigate external environmental complaints, maintain the complaints register, and provide input for risk assessments.
  • Maintain environmental records, data systems, and graphical reporting to assist management decision-making and compliance monitoring.

What are we looking for?

  • National Diploma (Environmental/Chemical Engineering) or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant environmental management field.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience in environmental management and compliance within the manufacturing industry.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and licensing processes.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Office Suite.
