Picker needed at Vector Logistics

Job Purpose

• The purpose of a picker is to accurately and efficiently retrieve products from storage locations and prepare them for delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Picking

• Gather ordered items for the packing and shipping.
• Picking of items listed picking slips.
• Maintain picking rate of minimum 100/cases per hour.
• Operate MHE’s i.e. Ride-on /Pallet Jack.
• Use RF Scanners/Voice picking for picking.

Housekeeping

• Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure correct storage.
• Ensure that stacking is neat, square and secure.
• Ensure the cage is neat and tidy at all times.
• Stock handling – minimize stock damages.
• Ensure waste on floors is cleaned before the end of the day and walk ways are neat and tidy.
• Ensure pallet boards and pallets are removed timeously from pick levels and cold room.
• Ensure segregation of waste for recycling.

Assist on Stock Count Preparations

• Assists to prepare the warehouse for the stock count.
• Ensure all damaged stock has been isolated and notes have been placed.
• Ensure easy access to product for counting purposes.
• Conduct daily stock counting as requested by the Warehouse Shift Controller.
• Report all problem stocks to the Shift Warehouse Controller.

Timekeeping

• Clock in and out at correct times.
• Keep overtime at a minimum.
• Report any late coming from any staff member to the Shift Warehouse Controller.
• Available to work shifts as and when required.
• Available to work overtime as and when required.

Good Handling Practices

• Ensure loading and freezer door are kept closed.
• Ensure a glass free area by covering glass fixtures and not allowing cups and bottles near any product.

Teamwork and Self-Management

• Take ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management in terms of planning and prioritising, and self- development.
• Inform relevant parties in the event of tasks or deadlines not met, the potential risks thereof and provide appropriate resolution.

General loading accuracy

• Health and safety compliance and risk elimination.
• Accurate timekeeping.
• Load rate.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required for the Job

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric.
• Minimum of 1 years’ warehousing or similar functional experience.

 Skills and Competencies

• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Verbal and written communication.
• Interpersonal.
• Logical thinking.
• Basic Numerical ability / aptitude.
