Video Technology, Prof/AP & HOD needed at Durban University of Technology

• The Department of Video Technology plays a vital role in shaping the next generation of film and television creators, digital storytellers, content producers, and media innovators. The Department is advancing digital media scholarship and creative technologies with a strong emphasis on industry relevance, emerging production methods, and African visual storytelling.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following permanent academic appointment and linked fixed-term leadership role:

PROFESSOR / ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

 (Permanent Appointment)

 Minimum Requirements: Professor

• Doctoral Degree in Film, Television or a related discipline
• Minimum 10 years of excellent higher education experience including postgraduate supervision
• Proven international recognition through research and creative outputs over the last 10 years
• Demonstrated record of Masters and Doctoral supervision
• Significant contribution to community and/or industry engagement

 Minimum Requirements: Associate Professor

• Doctoral Degree in Film, Television, or related field
• Minimum 7 years in higher education and/or academic leadership
• National and/or international research or creative recognition over the last 7 years
• Successful postgraduate supervision
• Evidence of community and/or industry-related engagement Additional evidence of teaching excellence:
• Strong discipline expertise
• Innovative pedagogy and assessment
• Curriculum design and development
• Postgraduate mentorship
• Clear teaching philosophy
• Excellent human relations and communication skills

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT: VIDEO TECHNOLOGY

 (5-year renewable contract, in addition to the permanent academic appointment)

 Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Film, Television, or relevant discipline aligned to Departmental programmes
• Meets requirements for appointment as Associate Professor or Professor
• At least 5 years of proven academic leadership
