Critical performance areas:
Play a role in quality teaching and learning with technology in the domain of the following
- BEng Tech modules: Engineering Graphics (EGH105B), Mineral Processing (MIP206B),
- Non Ferrous Metallurgy (NFM317B) and Process Metallurgy and Design (PMD307B)
- Lead and participate actively in subject and curriculum committees.
- Participating in departmental meetings.
- Responsible for administrative task related to teaching and learning.
- Responsible and play a prominent role in the compiling and maintenance of quality study guides, laboratory guides, subject files and other Teaching and Learning with technology materials. Roles also includes mentorship, quality audits, constant revision, and update of materials in line with industry norms and engineering council regulations.
- Participate in and lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas.
- Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other interactions.
- Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding.
- Involvement with Community engagement.
Minimum Requirements
Academic Qualification:
- MEng/MSc/MTech/DTech/PhD qualifications in Metallurgical Engineering
Experience
- 3 years relevant teaching experience in higher institution and/or 3 years relevant experience in industry.
- Must have good knowledge in Minerals Processing, hydrometallurgy, Extractive metallurgy and Engineering graphics
- Experience in solidworks/CAD for EGH105B is a prerequisite.
- Academic/research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences.
- Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of programs, student affairs and research projects.
Knowledge and skills
- Resourceful in areas of Minerals Processing, hydrometallurgy, Extractive metallurgy and engineering graphics.
- Proficiency in online teaching and learning platforms.
- Ability to perform research, teaching, and administration simultaneously.
- Experience with ECSA Graduate Attributes (GAs)
