Job purpose
- The Bookkeeper is a key member of the Raizcorp team and embodies the organisation’s spirit through exceptional service delivery. This role is responsible for ensuring that all entrepreneur accounts are processed with the highest level of care, accuracy and professionalism. The Bookkeeper holds a fiduciary duty to Raizcorp and its entrepreneurs by ensuring that all accounts are correct, compliant and insightful, enabling entrepreneurs to understand and effectively manage their financial information.
- The Bookkeeper provides bookkeeping and financial analytics services to entrepreneurs across various Raizcorp programmes, using Sage One Cloud Accounting.
Key responsibilities
- Create new companies on Sage One Cloud.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of all data captured across Raizcorp systems (including Amber) and manage the collection and collation of Sustainability Bricks related to bookkeeping.
- Adhere to all Raizcorp quality requirements, systems and processes, and proactively stay informed of new systems or process updates.
- Maintain a minimum bookkeeping quality score of 85% per quarter across the entire portfolio.
- Follow up on outstanding bookkeeping documentation as per the Bookkeeping Compliance process.
- Capture source documents and perform full-function bookkeeping: debtors, creditors, cashbook, general ledger and monthly management accounts.
- Address issues raised on management accounts by the Senior Bookkeeper, Accountant or Finance Guides within required timelines.
- Schedule daily work in alignment with entrepreneur meeting schedules and Finance Guide requirements.
- Review and analyse management accounts before submitting them to the Senior Bookkeeper, Accountant and Finance Guides.
- Prepare VAT reports for all VAT-registered companies.
- Develop and implement projects as required.
- Ensure all bookkeeping quality standards are met or exceeded.
- Provide training and guidance to entrepreneurs on bookkeeping compliance and documentation requirements.
- Prepare and submit status reports as outlined in the Bookkeeping Compliance process.
- Manage and process the Raizcorp in-house debtor system.
- Conduct due diligence checks on companies applying to Raizcorp programmes.
- Attend weekly and monthly internal meetings, including:
- Weekly staff meetings
- Weekly Guide meetings
- Complete all required internal training, examinations and simulations, maintaining the required pass marks (80% for examinations and 65% for simulations).
- Assist other departments when capacity allows, including:
- Process creation
- Data processing
- Administrative duties
- Calling requirements
- Other tasks reasonably required by Raizcorp
Skills, competencies and minimum requirements
- Minimum criteria:
- At least 3 years’ bookkeeping experience working with multiple companies or sets of books.
- A tertiary finance or bookkeeping qualification (non-negotiable).
- Experience working on Sage One Cloud Accounting.
- Experience managing between 16 and 22 companies.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to review and analyse management accounts.
