- Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Specialist, to join the Midrand team at CCBA.The role will report to the Health & Safety Lead.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outcomes
Strategy and Governance Support
- Assist in aligning national H&S strategy with Coca-Cola global QSE requirements and local legal obligations.
- Support the development and rollout of H&S policies, procedures, and frameworks across all manufacturing and logistics operations.
Compliance Monitoring and Audit Coordination
- Plan and coordinate internal H&S audits across plants to assess compliance with KORE, ISO 45001, and legislative requirements.
- Consolidate audit findings and track the implementation of corrective actions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance for plant-based H&S teams.
Performance Analytics and Reporting
- Consolidate, analyse, and interpret site-level safety data and incident reports.
- Develop performance dashboards and reports for internal leadership and external regulatory bodies.
- Monitor and report on key indicators including incident trends, training completion, and risk mitigation status.
Incident Support and Learning
- Support investigations into serious incidents or near misses, ensuring robust root cause analysis and cross-functional learning.
- Identify trends and contribute to the design of proactive interventions.
Training, Communication and Culture Initiatives
- Support the development of national safety training programs, awareness campaigns, and toolbox talk materials.
- Collaborate with plant teams to promote a strong safety culture through education and engagement.
- Facilitate cross-site knowledge-sharing and best practice dissemination.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a liaison between head office QSE leadership and site-based H&S Managers.
- Work collaboratively with peers in QSE, HR, Engineering, and Operations to align safety initiatives.
KBI
- Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) – national performance
- Safety audit compliance scores (internal and external)
- % closure of audit findings within target timelines
- Incident and near-miss reporting rates
- Compliance with legal registers and permit-to-work systems
- Number and reach of safety training and awareness sessions
- Risk assessment and safety documentation completion rates
- Safety culture maturity level assessments
Skills, Experience & Education
Education
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or related field (required)
- Professional certifications such as SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or NOSA (required)
- ISO 45001 Lead or Internal Auditor Certification (preferred)
- Membership with a professional body (e.g., IOSH, SACPCMP) is advantageous
Experience
- 5–7 years’ experience in a health and safety role, with exposure to multi-site or head office oversight functions
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment preferred
- Proven ability to implement corporate safety programs and drive standardization across multiple operations
- Strong understanding of South African occupational health and safety regulations
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of OHS legislation, ISO 45001, and CCBSA safety standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety data management systems
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for reporting and performance monitoring
- Effective communication and training development capabilities
- Project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to influence without authority and support cultural transformation
