About the Role
The Technician drives high-RPM operational value by managing vehicle diagnostic data and ensuring 100% compliance with automotive safety and quality standards. Utilizing SAP for parts orchestration and ServiceNow for workflow management, the technician minimizes operational risk in the reconditioning lifecycle. Their role leverages data-driven insights to optimize workshop turnover and ensures the technical reliability of the group’s national automotive inventory.
Role Description
Requirements / Personal Attributes:
- Presentable appearance and sober habits
- Excellent timekeeping
- No criminal record
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to train and support co-workers
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Working knowledge of electrical DBs and wiring
- Experience with diagnostic equipment and ECUs
- Computer literate
- Strong technical background
In-depth knowledge of:
- Reconning starters, alternators, and electrical components
- ECUs and key coding
- ECU programming
- Team player with the ability to lead and set high standards
- Professional and thorough knowledge in the field
- Experience in team management
Qualifications / Experience:
- Trade-test Motor Mechanic (Red Seal)
- 5–7 years’ experience in diagnostics and fault finding
- Valid driver’s license
- Advantageous: experience in managing a team
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform services, repairs, and maintenance on customer vehicles
- Manage a small team of mechanics and apprentices
- Conduct mechanical and electronic diagnostics
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Source and order parts
- Diagnose and repair ECU-related issues
- Repair vehicle wiring and electrical components
- Code keys and program ECUs
- Liaise with internal and external workshops
- Manage vehicle logistics
- Handle all administrative processes for repairs and recon, including approvals and orders
Career Growth & Education
A valid Trade Test certificate and a National Technical Diploma are the required foundations for this professional track. Career growth leads toward Workshop Manager or Technical Trainer roles by mastering digital diagnostic tools and hybrid vehicle technology. Participating in specialized bootcamps for electric vehicle (EV) systems and obtaining global automotive certifications provides a pathway to senior technical leadership in the international transport sector.
