The Appointee should:
- At least 5 years experience in a related role, of which 2 years should have been at a supervisory leavel area as a Strata Control Officer
- Legal Appointee according to regulations of the Minerals Act and regulations of the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Medically fit to work in the specific business area.
- Clear security screening record.
- Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Advanced Rock Engineering Certificate ,Mining engineering /Physics/Geology Degree or Diploma
Key Responsibilities:
- Geology Management:Manage the Rock Engineering Section team,systems and process.Analyses and interpret Geotechnical data and reports and take corrective action as required.provide effective problem solving support to the Rock Engineering teams.Participate in the daily Geotechnical meting.Plan and manage Mining resources (personnel,equipment and material)as required.
- Projects:Manage mining and civil engineering projects with a primary project focus on tunnel design,rock fall risk assessment,rock slope stabilization and rock foundation design, inspection,assessment and evaluation.Assume responsibility for maintaining the integrity of the hanging wall beam to prevent collapse.Recommend support and rock engineering COPS.
- Geology Project:Identify rock engineering improvement opportunities.Implement rock engineering improvement project and initiatives,Supervise a project team of a rock engineering project to deliver project objectives.Continue to the management of the project risk within own field of expertise.Develop a simple schedule to facilitate effective project execution.Monitor , evaluate and communicate simple project schedule.
- Stakeholder Relations:Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross functional.Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers .Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable. Collaborating with the external services provider regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
- Financial Management:Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives:Working Cost Budget .Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the division in line with business requirements and financial objectives.Approving operational expenditures.Formulating monthly and annual budget.Cost savings:Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiative.Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operation.
- Building a value-based organizational culture.Active support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan.this support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
- ESG Compliance:Align to World Gold Council(WGC)Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations:Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfs)initiative.
- SHE Compliance:Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks.Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedure .SHE Management :instill a culture of she leadership within the department.Participate in regional/local bodies and decision making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment that will result in the longer -term sustainability of the division.Quality Management System(QMS):Approve department’s documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System.
- Focus on safe production & Operational excellence:Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence .Improve our position on global industry cost curve.
- People Management:Recruitment;Design the specific operational discipline structure to support the achievement of the organisational mandate.Review and approve labour plans around operational targets .Performance Management:Provide leadership and inspire team members towards high performance. Manage performance and development of reporting staff. Set the specific Operational discipline performance target an criteria that align with organisational goals for the team.Employee Relations:Drive a organisational culture and climate within the Business Unit to ensure achievement of organisational objectives and employee safety.Training and Development:Driving a culture of Leading and Continuous Improvement within the specific Opearation to ensure achievement of organisational objecties and safety.mentor individual to enhance the individual’s knowledge ,skills ,value and attitude.Create opportunities for development through participation and involvement in new business or technology enhancement projects for team members.provide coaching to team members on an ongoing basis.Transformation &Sustainability:Drive a culture of Transformation within the specific Operation to ensure organisational sustainability.
