Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
• Onsetter or Banksman Certificate
• Boiler making phase 1 certificate
• IRCA Training for Construction Supervisors Certificate
• 3 years’ experience working in a similar position

Key Responsibilities:

• Examining Safety devices
• Shaft examinations
• Housekeeping of shaft bank area
• Safety of personnel in shaft bank area and in the shaft
• Signalling Winding Engine Driver, Stage Operators, shaft bottom personnel
• Examining telephones, lights and signalling devices
• Hoisting of men and equipment
• Hoisting of rock disposal
• Record-keeping of Shaft logbook
• Rigging and slinging of equipment
• Report any anomalies and incidents to the shaft Foreman
