Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

  • To provide technical training and performance coaching to Mining Learners within their workplaces to enhance the transfer of knowledge and ensure the application of practical skills as per SETA requirements.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

  • Ensure the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act No.29 of 1996) safety and health standards are maintained.

CUSTOMERS

Customer Relations:

  • Interact with customers and familiarise yourself with operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g Production issues)
  • Ensure proper communication and feedback to supervisors and learners alike

Suppliers Relations:

  • Liaise with Line Supervisors

BUSINESS PROCESSES

  • Training Effectiveness
  • Coordinate and plan the flow of training according to training needs to optimize resources available
  • Determine Learner needs and material requirements according to the training plan and production requirements
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate learner progress according to the training criteria and requirements, to assist and ensure the transfer of skills and knowledge
  • Coach learners on the completion of various practical tasks to determine competence in line with various training modules.
  • Monitor and assess learners to determine the level of knowledge on the job
  • Mentor learners to ensure transfer of proper best practice skills and task steps
  • Ensure effective maintenance of learner performance records
  • Liaise with supervisors to receive and record feedback on learners who have completed training at Business Unit to ensure improvement in terms of practical training

TRAINING EQUIPMENT

  • Ensure the availability of training material according to the training programs in process
  • Monitor and ensure the maintenance of equipment utilised in the training process according to the technical specifications and Business Unit maintenance standards

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

  • Manage learner’s performance according to the training standards and Business Unit policies and take action to correct deviations to achieve the training objectives
  • Co-ordinate learners in the production sections, to ensure effective utilisation of resources

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Function as a member of a project and co-ordinate project activities and provide input in terms of projects resource

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Blasting Certificate (Mining Training)
  • Shift Supervisor’s Certificate will be advantageous

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Registered Assessor
  • Coaching of Learner Certificate
  • Mentorship Certificate will be advantageous
  • OD ETDP Qualification NQF level 3 will be advantageous

Required Experience: 

  • 5 years’ Production experience with preferably 2 years supervisory experience in Mining
