Environmental Scientist – Cape Town (Ref CT0111) needed at JG AFRIKA

Duties and Responsibilities:

• JG Afrika is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join their team in Cape Town.
• Duties will include environmental screening and impact assessment, report writing, tender & proposal compilation, public participation, authority, client and specialist liaison, ECO auditing, and deliverable quality control.
• An interest in being involved in other sustainability projects in the built environment is advantageous.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management / Sciences or similar and a minimum of 5 years post-graduate environmental consulting experience.
• EAPASA registration is required.
• Must have a full, valid driver’s license and be willing to travel.

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years post-graduate environmental consulting experience.
• Must have experience in undertaking Basic Assessments and EIAs in South Africa, preferably having managed a number of environmental authorisation applications independently from start to finish.
• Must have experience in compiling budgets, proposals and tenders.

Skills:

• Core understanding of NEMA, NEM:WA, MPRDA, NEM:AQA and NWA processes and associated legislation and regulations.
• Proficient in the MS Office Suite.
• Excellent English written and verbal skills.

• Ability to analytically interrogate scientific and technical information.
• Be able to manage multiple projects.
