Job Summary:

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Credit, the Senior Credit Manager will be responsible for overseeing credit risk management, driving sales growth, and managing a team of Credit Relationship Managers. This role requires a deep understanding of credit principles, exceptional leadership, and the ability to manage complex issues under pressure.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
    Lead and mentor the Credit Relationship Management team, ensuring they meet strategic objectives and excel in performance
  • Credit & Risk Management:
    Evaluate and manage credit risks across the portfolio. Oversee the entire credit approval process, ensuring adherence to company policies and driving down non-performing loans
  • Client Relationship Management & Sales Growth:
    Collaborate with sales teams to create tailored credit solutions. Foster and maintain positive client relationships to enhance cross-selling and upselling opportunities
  • Debt Management & Recovery:
    Develop and implement strategies to reduce bad debt. Recommend debt restructuring or account handover while preserving customer relationships and adhering to regulatory requirements
  • Policy & Process Development:
    Lead the review, development, and implementation of credit policies and processes. Ensure alignment with best industry practices and evolving regulatory requirements
  • Performance Reporting:
    Prepare and present monthly performance reports to senior management, focusing on portfolio risk, credit sales growth, and overall performance metrics
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Represent TWK Agri at Credit Bureau meetings and industry forums. Maintain strong relationships with internal departments, clients, and other stakeholders to enhance service delivery

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
  • Honours degree or higher preferred
  • MBA or relevant professional certification (advantageous)
  • 8-10 years of proven experience in credit risk management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Strong expertise in managing large credit facilities, ideally within the agricultural sector
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing credit sales strategies
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial analysis
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with experience working across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Attention to details and a commitment to accuracy
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align credit management with company goals
  • Effective decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations
