MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Qualification / Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in materials handling, logistics, or supply chain roles, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory position.
  • Knowledge and working experience of SAP systems and processes / transactions
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varyingtemperatures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise a team of stores personnel
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth and efficient material flow.
  • Conduct shift meetings to communicate goals, updates, and performance expectations.
  • Train and mentor team members on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation.

      Materials Management:

  • Oversee the receiving, storage, and movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate tracking of materials using inventory management software.
  • Coordinate with production, purchasing, and shipping departments to maintain the availability of materials for production needs.
  • Ensure proper documentation of material transactions, ensuring data accuracy and timely entry into systems.

Process Optimization:

  • Identify areas for improvement in material handling processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Work closely with the management team to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to material flow, equipment, or personnel that may impact production.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and report on key performance metrics (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, material availability, and shift productivity.
  • Provide feedback to team members on performance and address any areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with other shift leaders and managers to ensure consistency across shifts.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Monitor the condition and performance of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
  • Schedule regular maintenance and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the maintenance team.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and maintain cleanliness and organization in the materials handling area.
  • Address and report any safety concerns or violations immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and government regulations.
