A day in the life of a Process Optimization Specialist:

Identifying Improvement Initiatives

  • Actively participate and lead in Function/Department DOR/WOR/MOR/QOR reviews to understand performance and challenges.
  • Proactive in proposing new continuous improvement initiatives in all ends to end processes.
  • Reduction/ prevention of future exceptions by ongoing measurement of root cause of failures.
  • Calibrate with stakeholders (Line Managers/HOD) to align on initiative, expected deliverables and timelines.
  • Create visibility of resource requirements to execute actions (time required to work on initiatives).

Capability Building to Sustain Improvement

  • Ensure all training actions are documented (who, when, what, how) with support from E&T specialist
  • Support E&T specialist to track, monitor and feedback on execution of training interventions
  • Demonstrate version control is in place to track new/updated/revised SOP’s and Standard Routines
  • Able to demonstrate a coaching culture exists through planned job observations linked to new ways of working
  • Support Line Managers in identifying employees who have the potential to be trained and certified on Six Sigma
  • Promote the documenting (learning log) and sharing of good practices across the organization at all levels.

Improvement Initiatives Management

  • Increase efficiency by monitoring the progress of the agreed initiatives / Projects for all O2C processes.
  • Improve visibility and tracking of ongoing and completed improvement initiatives and controls set in place using GA principles.
  • Effective analysis of data to support the identification and execution of improvement initiatives – continuous improvement.
  • Run the Zone calls for the Customer Supply Chain in ESAR (co-ordinate and execute).
  • Upskill constantly on new solutions and co-ordinate with FRM to ensure best solutions have business case studies for approval.
  • Enhancements on the existing applications/solutions to ensure relevance.
  • Stakeholder management to the business on new solutions and enhancements and new features.
  • Attend PO network meetings and create a network to ensure best practices are followed.               

What will make you successful?

  • BCom degree/diploma (Supply Chain and/or relevant degree).
  • Six Sigma minimum green belt.
  • Stakeholder management on all levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • High level of PPT (PowerPoint) skills in order to present in all internal and external forums.
  • Strong organisational skills.
