Key Performance Objectives   Controls, Governance & Policies

  • Responsible for the development/creation, implementation and maintenance of system of robust controls, procedures and policies
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance to accounting policies
  • Support the Finance Shared Services Innovation team in governance initiatives
  • Ensure compliance to policies, internal control and external audit
  • Support internal audit, ensure that any findings are resolved
  • Assist in improvement and development of processes and systems for accounting purposes
  • Work with cross functional teams in the shared services and business to ensure compliance, accuracy and efficiency in financial areas

Year End Activities

  • Preparation and building of Annual Financial Statements, Interim financial statements and disclosures that comply with IFRS
  • Preparation of annual and interim reporting packs
  • Assist in the external audit process, assisting in resolving queries and review of audit schedules
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint

Recording and Maintaining Accurate and Complete Accounting Records

  • Create and monitor a system of controls and procedures for the recording of Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedge and Tax Accounting transactions
  • Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax
  • Responsible for General Ledger Master Data Management relating to Accounts and Cost/Profit Centres
  • Responsible to set-up Allocation Keys for Related Party Intercompany Charges in the System
  • Responsible for the Processing of the Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax journals
  • Reconcile the balance in the Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture, Hedging and Tax subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger
  • Consulting with the Tax Team on applicable matters related to Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture and Hedge Accounting
  • Consult with the Order-to-Cash and Source-to-Pay team to correct anomalies in the business as usual Intercompany, Agencies, Franchises and Joint Venture transactions processed by them
  • Responsible for Balance Confirmation of Intercompany, Joint Venture Agencies & Franchises Accounts
  • Responsible for uploading to HFM of Actuals
  • Responsible for preparation Standard Reporting in the form of Income Statements, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and Supporting Notes and Consolidations for all subsidiaries and joint ventures of the NVE Segment on a Monthly and Annual basis
  • Venture, Hedge and Tax Accounting, and assist the auditors in their inquiries
  • Analysis of trial balance, explanation / commentary for movements compared to previous months
  • Responsible for preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analysis of income statement accounts
  • Review of processes, identification and implementation of efficiencies
  • Support the Finance Shared Services Innovation team in process efficiencies
  • Analysis of expense accounts for tax submission to SARS
  • Liaising with Head of Finance and Financial Accountant and resolving management accounting queries
  • Standardisation of Chart of Accountants and drive correct classification of GL accounts across the business

Qualifications

  • BCom in Accounting (Honours)

Experience / Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar role
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and Taxation rules
  • SAP system experience
  • Hyperion Financial Management
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Intercompany accounting experience would be advantageous
