Job Description
Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

  • Manage the MFS reporting and accounting requirements in collaboration with the MFS team and the broader MTN SA stakeholders. 
  • Manage the MFS expenditure budget including tracking of expenses, facilitation of payments, management of budget transfers and preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Give inputs into and facilitate the business planning process for MTN SA.

Key Tasks: Indicates those KPA’s that are essential to the position itself. These are normally specific to the incumbent, the job, and the function. Excludes role and leadership / management.

Business Planning & Budgeting

  • Assist with the high-level and detailed business planning processes for the MFS business unit.
  • Engage MFS budget holders to obtain operation budget requirements for the business planning and forecasting periods. 
  • Engage MFS budget holders to obtain operating and capital expenditure budget requirements for the business planning and forecasting periods. 
  • Compile the necessary submissions to finance to secure Opex and Capex budget for the business unit. 
  • Compile required documentation for the MFS team pertaining to the approval, release and loading of operational and capital budgets for the business unit. 
  • Gather inputs from the MFS commercial team with regards to Non-Financial KPI’s, Revenue, Cost of Sale and Opex budgeting. 
  • Prepare budgets and forecast on the financial performance of the business unit up to EBITDA level.

Accounting 

  • Extract performance information to be shared with finance for monthly reporting for MFS. 
  • Actively engage with finance to ensure accurate and timely reporting for all MFS related products into the General Ledger.
  • First layer analysing of results, highlighting variances and suggesting corrective action.
  • Actively engage with finance to ensure monthly results are uploaded on Hyperion Financial Management.
  • Collaborate with the SA Tax team to ensure accurate and prompt tax accounting for all MFS related Products and Services. 
  • Collaborate with finance in managing the external statutory audits for year-end and interim for all MFS related Products and Services. 
  • Where required, collaborate with finance in accounting for all MFS related transactions, balances and disclosures to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Ensure timely distribution of monthly reports. 
  • Keep abreast of technical (IFRS and Regulatory) updates relating to the Financial Services industry.

Expense Management

  • Management of the expenditure budget including facilitating budget transfers, preparation of monthly accruals and tracking and reporting on year-to-date (YTD) spend, committed funds, and available funds.
  • Monitor supplier payments and liaise with accounts payable to ensure timely settlement.

Reporting & Insights 

  • Assist in preparing regulatory compliance reports with regards to AML and other legislations. 
  • Compile high level reports on a daily basis outlining KPIs for the MFS business unit. 
  • Compile and present detailed reports on a weekly basis on KPIs and the overall financial and non-financial performance.
  • Compile and present detail reports on monthly performance of the MFS business unit. 
  • Collaborate with Finance and Other Business unit to compile Opco, regional and management reports pertaining to the MFS business unit. 
  • Support internal MFS stakeholders on ad-hoc reporting and insights requirements for decision-making.

Qualifications
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education: (5)

  • 3-year Degree / Diploma in Financial Management / Accounting or relate

Experience: (5)

  • 1-year experience in reporting, financial management, accounting or other related fields
