KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Responsible for any new payroll codes requests and thorough testing of the parameters within the systems;
- Conduct quality checks of tax deductions, tax register and IRP5 balances to ensure accuracy of tax calculations within the systems;
- Manage payroll system programs and parameters for calculation of statutory and tax calculations of salary runs;
- Balance and submit Monthly tax payments (EMP201). Checking and confirmation of payments;
- Accountable for tax compliance, tax reconciliations and payments of monthly PAYE, UIF and SDL;
- Submission of bi-annual reconciliations on Easy File, e.g., IRP5 runs, EMP501, 601, 701 on submission dates. Assist with modification, and cancellation of prior year IRP5s;
- Management of Executive Portfolio in the Payroll;
- Draft and control of monthly report to Senior Manager: Salaries;
- Manage the performance and development of staff. Ensure performance contracts and assessments for staff in the division are completed;
- Provide leadership concerning the division’s operational and strategic activities and monitor productivity and absenteeism;
- Lead system support to ensure that the systems are operational to the University’s requirements;
- Provide system-related leadership and training to reporting staff members by means of advice, assistance, and examples;
- Manage payments from campus companies related to retirement funds and group insurance and monitor correct payments to insurers;
- Responsible for reconciling pension and provident reports, and timeously payment thereof;
- Ensure that all enquiries are attended to within allocated timelines, according to fair labour practice and within policy;
- Manage permission manager for salary division (includes granting access to UP campus and system access).
- Management of salary suspense accounts handled by staff members to prevent over-payments;
- Remain abreast of changes in tax and payroll legislations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant B-Com in Accounting or Degree in Information Technology with a Certificate in Payroll Taxes and Legislation;
- 5 years’ relevant experience in the following areas:
- Payroll
- Data Analyst
- Project Management
- Management experience
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
- Hons B-Com Accounting or Taxation;
- Post Grad Diploma in Accounting or Taxation;
- Business Analyst / Data Analytics courses;
- 2 years’ experience in Financial, PeopleSoft, Disciplinary hearing and Performance Management experience.
