Your mission:

  • Safety – ensuring that the Fire and Emergency department conforms to the safety regulations of Mondi
  • Insurance Actions – Actively driving and co-ordinating all risk actions as identified by Mondi’s Risk partners 
  • Operational Risk Management – Actively identifying major events that can lead to high risks
  • and advising management
  • Fire protection – Ensuring that the mill is adequately able to prevent fires as well as be protected from fires
  • Responsible for fire systems maintenance across the mill
  • Safety and risk management – GMR2.7A Appointment
  • Lead technical risk strategy optimisation across the mill
  • RCFA and deviation analysis and management
  • Coordinate fire and emergency execution across the mill
  • Reporting (KPIs, Cost, Technical risk Execution; Legal Compliance)
  • Propose and manage maintenance budget and capex requirements
  • Define Technical risk needs, manage handover and ensure capex approval
  • Control master data integrity
  • Set up and control standards compliance across the mill
  • People management
  • Contractor management
  • Participate in audits (internal; internal group; insurance; environmental; safety) and ensure actions are closed.
  • Perform standby duties as required

Your profile:

  • Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (NQF 8) or equivalent 
  • Engineering Management (incl Project Management), Maintenance Management (incl Shutdown and Asset management)
  • 5 years of experience as a Risk Manager or equivalent
  • High focus on legal compliance and understanding of applicable laws
  • GMR2.7A appointment – Track record of handling legal duties and experience at management level
  • Experienced in Pulp & Paper or equivalent technologies
  • Experienced in team dynamics and supervision, HR & IR Management, management systems & tools, budget and cost control, change management, process control, legal compliance, customer support, conflict management, and communication.
  • Achievements in the completion of large projects | shutdowns or have carried responsibility for a major industrial site’s departments
  • Sound understanding of the management of engineering disciplines and how it is inter-linked.
  • Strong people management skills with a robust technical background
