Job Advert Summary    

• An opportunity has arisen for a Chargehand to manage, supervise and motivate a team of workshop staff and manage the fleet service and maintenance programme.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12 / Matric 
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic (Red Seal)
• Valid code EC (14) driver’s license
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Qualified Diesel Mechanic
• 5 Years trailer maintenance experience
• 5 Years truck maintenance experience
• Must have experience in diagnostic fault finding on vehicles  
• Computer skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Deadline orientated and prepared to do ad-hoc tasks

Duties & Responsibilities    

• Manage the fleet service and maintenance programme as per maintenance procedure
• Manage, supervise and motivate a team of workshop staff
• Inspects plant or workshop area for scheduled maintenance or repairs as required
• Responsible for maintaining, modifying, installation and repairs
• Attend regular SHE meetings and toolbox talk discussions with workshop staff
• Ensure paperwork is complete and accurate
• Working hours will fluctuate and will be required to be on standby
• Able to get quotes from suppliers and obtain the  best possible price
• Manage the stores stock with storeman
