  • Unitrans is seeking to employ a diligent Inspector to join the Passenger division. The Inspector ensures that all passenger transport operations comply with established safety, operational, and service quality standards. This includes inspecting vehicles, monitoring driver conduct, assessing route compliance, and addressing customer service concerns to maintain operational excellence and a positive passenger experience.

Minimum Requirements    

  • Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric / National Senior Certificate
  • Experience in a similair role: Up to 2 years

Skills and Competencies:

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to identify non-compliance or potential safety risks.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with vehicle maintenance, safety standards, and passenger transport regulations.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability to investigate and resolve operational issues effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and professional interaction with drivers, staff, and passengers.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong record-keeping and time management abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities    
Operational Inspections:

  • Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure they meet safety and maintenance standards.
  • Verify compliance with operational schedules and adherence to designated routes.
  • Monitor driver conduct, including adherence to traffic regulations, company policies, and customer service standards.

Compliance Monitoring:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards, vehicle licensing, and environmental
  • regulations.
  • Identify and report non-conformities, initiating corrective actions where necessary.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and compliance checks.
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide recommendations for operational improvements.

Incident Management:

  • Respond promptly to incidents or complaints, investigating and documenting findings.
  • Work closely with drivers, maintenance teams, and management to resolve issues effectively.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to management and relevant departments.
  • Provide guidance and training to drivers and staff on best practices and compliance standards.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify trends in operational performance and recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in audits, safety drills, and other quality assurance activities.
