Appointment Minimum Requirements: 

  • National Diploma (NQF6) in Facilities Management /Civil Engineering or equivalent 
  • 7 years’ experience of which 3 years must be at middle management level 

Primary Function:

  •  The Senior Manager for Facilities Management is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, maintenance, and efficient operation of all facility-related functions, including infrastructure, building systems, and civil works.
  • The role ensures a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment that aligns with organizational goals, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives. Establish CAPEX funding allocated to projects and identify and manage risks within the project execution environment. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for facility maintenance and operational efficiency. Forecast future needs and plan resources accordingly. Project Management Office strategy, plans and budget projections thereof. Participate in formulation of the Oversee regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs for all facilities. Manage utilities, HVAC systems, fire safety systems, and other building systems.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Negotiate contracts with service providers and vendors. Monitor contractor performance and adherence to agreed service levels. Prepare and manage budgets for facilities operations and capital projects.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Oversee civil construction and renovation projects, ensuring timely completion within budget. Review architectural and engineering designs, providing inputs for efficiency and functionality.
  • Ensure all civil works comply with local building codes and regulations. Manage acquisition of necessary permits and approvals for construction activities. Supervise site activities to maintain quality standards. Resolve any issues or discrepancies during construction or renovation. Lead a multidisciplinary team of facility engineers, technicians, and support staff. Collaborate with other departments to address facility needs and resolve issues.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. Implement energy efficiency measures and waste reduction strategies. Explore and integrate renewable energy solutions where applicable. Promote sustainable practices in civil and facility operations.
