Minimum Requirements

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree is required (BCom/Law degree or Compliance qualification will be advantageous)
  • Minimum 3 years compliance experience in a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of legislation and standards governing the petrochemical storage industry (advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993 will be advantageous
  • Risk management experience would be advantageous
  • Must be highly proficient in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Supervisory experience would be advantageous

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to the requirements of the relevant regulatory body
  • Roll out, implement and maintain legal compliance management framework
  • Draft and review compliance policies including effective implementation of policies and guidelines
  • Advise management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports
  • Create and manage effective action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
  • Tracking and monitoring of key compliance risk indicators, controls and action plans
  • Assess company operations to determine compliance risk
  • Conduct research on compliance related topics
  • Work with internal and external partners to ensure the effectiveness of the compliance function
  • Prepare and consolidate sustainability reporting including the preparation and submission of carbon tax returns
  • Prepare and submit reports to relevant regulatory bodies as and when required
  • Promote corporate assurance by awareness on matters such as fraud and corruption
  • Conduct legal and compliance audits on all critical business processes to determine whether established processes are compliant with latest legislative requirements and suggest improvements
  • Assist the Training team in the development of training materials to ensure that all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes
  • Assist in compiling compliance reports
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on initiatives that focus on the mitigation of compliance risks
  • Act as a custodian and superuser of all compliance related systems
  • Maintain the business’ membership with key regulatory and industry bodies
  • Conduct investigations on issues raised in the business hotline
