Generic Requirements: 

  • Applicant must display competency in the post-specific functions of the post; 
  • Be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12); 
  • proficient in at least two official languages, of which one must be English; 
  • Must be a SA citizen; 
  • Must have no criminal record or pending criminal/ department cases; 
  • Computer Literacy; 
  • Interpersonal, communication and Organizational Skills. 
  • Analytical, Self-Management and Problem-Solving Skills;

  • Be in possession of at least a valid light driver’s license; 
  • Applicants will be subjected to a vetting process which will include security screening and fingerprint verification;

  • Relevant courses in the field of the post may be an advantage

  • Successful candidate must be willing to travel and attend courses when required. 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology accredited by SAQA on NQF level 9 or higher. 
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience at supervisory level in the field of the post. 
  • Must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and must produce proof of annual paid up fees for the 2024/2025 financial year.

Inherent competencies: 

  • Experience with development of policies and programmes. 
  • Experience in trauma interventions. 
  • Experience in suicide interventions. 
  • Experience is psychometric assessments. 
  • Demonstrate strong data analysis skills. 

Core Functions: 

  • Manage effective research and Development within Psychological Services 
  • Manage and effective coordination, planning and implementation of all psychological assessment in SAPS related to entry-level assessments and specialized assessments. 
  • Manage and effective and efficient coordination of Organizational Diagnosis in the SAPS. 
  • Manage the administration task in the Section Psychological Services. 
  • Manage development and review of Policies, National Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures. 
  • Management of human, physical and financial resources allocated to Psychological Services as the Sub-Section Head: Development.
