This role reports into the Learning Manager
As a Consultant: Learning & Development, you will be responsible for:
- Support Line Managers, Foremen, and Supervisors in the process of identifying the learning needs of their teams by guiding the understanding of the competency gap analysis. Advise on the most appropriate learning to address the specific gaps of each individual employee in the supported business area
- Regularly participate in departmental meetings to identify new business requirements and advise the Managers on whether training will add to solving their business challenges or if other solutions need to be found
- Review the legal licences /certifications on a monthly basis and proactively schedule refresher training as needed
- Work with Production, Engineering, or other Line Managers to complete workforce demand plans incorporating multi-skilling requirements and pipelines of new entrants
- Show Managers what reports are available on the learning management system and how to interpret the information available. Ensure that Managers become self-sufficient in terms of the available reporting
- Regularly meet with local SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) teams to determine if there are new risks that need to be addressed during safety inductions or in general training. Ensure that the information is incorporated into the learning content
- Drive the adoption of online learning in the business area. Execute communication campaigns based on information provided by the Regional Office and monitor utilisation and employee experience
- Drive the utilisation of the Sappi learning management system by helping employees and line managers browse for training, create development plans, book and approve for training, use the online collaboration tools, and run the system reports
What are we looking for?
- National Diploma in Occupationally Directed Education Training and Development Practitioner (OD ETDP) or Bachelor of Technology in HRM or studying towards
- 3-5 years experience in a learning function, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Union exposure
