Description of Position: 

  • The Solutions Advisor: Adapting & Learning will collaborate closely with TSS staff to design and facilitate workshops that foster continuous learning, adaptive management, and team development, helping USAID and its implementing partners achieve critical program objectives. This role will develop tailored, interactive workshops to meet the unique needs of each team, drawing on best practices and lessons learned to drive performance and collaboration.
  • Key responsibilities include engaging with teams and stakeholders to identify learning priorities, creating content to enhance team effectiveness and problem-solving, and facilitating knowledge sharing to support sustainable learning and improved practices.
  • The Solutions Advisor will also lead a community of practice for facilitators to promote continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and the application of best practices. Additionally, the role will ensure efficiency by analyzing strategic documentation to standardize key engagements, such as team retreats, and sharing tools and best practices.
  • The Solutions Advisor will also develop adaptable core programs and create a resource library of facilitation methods and tools to enhance efficiency and support ongoing development. 

Activities and Deliverables could include, but are not limited to, the following: 

Needs Assessment and Program Design 

  • Conduct consultations with key stakeholders to identify objectives, learning outcomes, and specific needs for the workshop(s). 
  • Design a tailored workshop program that aligns with organizational priorities and integrates adult learning principles to ensure engagement, knowledge retention, and practical application. 
  • Develop supporting materials, including agendas, presentations, handouts, activities, and post-workshop resources. 

Workshop Facilitation 

  • Facilitate interactive and engaging workshops that encourage participation, collaboration, and actionable outcomes. 
  • Use a mix of facilitation techniques, such as group discussions, case studies, role-playing, and reflective exercises, to accommodate diverse learning styles. 
  • Adjust workshop flow and delivery as needed to respond to participant needs and feedback in real time. 

Capacity Building and Learning Integration 

  • Provide participants with tools, strategies, and frameworks to apply workshop learnings in their roles. 
  • Guide teams through collaborative problem-solving, planning, or action-oriented exercises to address specific challenges or opportunities. 
  • Incorporate actionable learning and adaptive management principles into the program design. 

Post-Workshop Deliverables 

  • Summarize workshop outcomes, insights, and recommendations in a brief report for stakeholders. 
  • Provide follow-up resources, including key takeaways, tools, or learning aids to support continued application. 
  • Offer recommendations for next steps to reinforce learning and drive implementation of outcomes. 

Facilitation Resource Library 

  • Facilitation Techniques, Tools, and Frameworks: A collection of proven methods, strategies, templates, and frameworks to engage participants, foster collaboration, and ensure active learning during workshops, while maintaining consistency and quality across all engagements. 
  • Best Practices and Customization Guidelines: A curated set of best practices and clear guidelines for adapting resources to meet the unique needs of different teams, with regular updates to reflect new insights, trends, and evolving team requirements. 

Lead and Manage a Community of Practice for Facilitators: 

  • Oversee the development, coordination, and facilitation of a community of practice for facilitators, ensuring continuous learning and fostering an environment where members can share best practices, insights, and experiences to enhance facilitation skills and effectiveness. 
  • Other activities as assigned to support the TSS quarterly work plan. 

Requirements

  • Relevant postgraduate degree or equivalent experience. 
  • 8+ years of experience in creating and leading workshops, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles, and a proven ability to design interactive, engaging, and impactful learning experiences tailored to diverse audiences and organizational needs. 
  • Experience in preparing presentations and learning materials that effectively incorporate adult learning principles, with a strong focus on content accuracy, clarity, and formatting to ensure high-quality, engaging, and impactful resources. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to various audiences in English.   
  • Strong technological proficiency, including extensive capacity in using both the Microsoft and Google suites of tools, particularly PowerPoint/Slides.   
  • Ability to organize, manage, prioritize, and follow through on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.   
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds.   
  • Experience with USAID staff and offices is a plus.  
  • Analytical thinker and attention to detail.
