Strategic and Operational Planning and Management of the Market Photo Workshop Activities

  • Lead the conceptualization, planning and development of operations, programme and project plans, and ensure implementation of the same within the financial resources available.
  • Develop and implement income generation and fundraising plans for the unit.
  • Review and improve the framework for quality management systems to ensure the viability and sustainability of the Market Photo Workshop courses.
  • Contribute actively in strategic planning and decision-making processes of the Market Theatre Foundation (MTF) and alignment of its objectives.
  • Review, update, and manage policies and procedures to limit and mitigate risk and comply with health and safety standards and other governance and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and implement innovative ways to improve business process efficiencies including advancing automation in workflow and cost containment.
  • Produce operations and projects reports.
  • Update, apply and maintain a risk management framework of the unit.
  • Ensure complete, timeous and accurate reporting with appropriate levels of escalation to enable effective decision making.

Artistic framework for Development and Programme Implementation

  • Develop artistic frameworks for all programmes and projects that includes curatorial and archival processes aligned to the Market Theatre Foundation Strategy.
  • Ensure monitoring, evaluation and review of the framework at pre-determined periods.
  • Conduct relevant industry research and photographic practice benchmarking to stay competitive and engaged with international best practice.
  • Plan and execute the adoption and implementation of the framework.

Curriculum framework development and Implementation of Teaching and Learning

  • Lead, maintain, strengthen, and direct the courses accreditation processes.
  • Develop and strategise a relevant curriculum framework for the Market Photo Workshop courses and public engagement programmes.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of the annual Curriculum Review workshops.

Partnership Development and Relationship Building

  • Grow and maintain intentional relationships with external stakeholder partnership, locally, continentally and beyond to foster meaningful collaborations.
  • Conceptualise, develop, and oversee programmes that align to the objectives of the relevant external stakeholder partners such as institutions of higher learning, government departments and business.
  • Grow and maintain collaborative relationships with MTF teams at all levels and maintain strong working relationships founded on care, open and transparent communication across the MTF.
  • Ensure optimal continuous communication and publicity of the Market Photo Workshop brand value activations to existing and new audiences to grow a vibrant following.

Financial Management

  • Develop sustainable business plans and budgets in order to address the current and future needs of the Market Photo Workshop.
  • Ensure optimal use of resources including financial, equipment and infrastructure..
  • Comply with cost containment in order to achieve unit budget targets.
  • Ensure financial documentation is maintained to support accurate record keeping and access to the same.

People Management

  • Oversee and ensure the management, supervision and professional development of unit team to grow a caring and productive organisational culture
  • Oversee resource planning, allocation and ensuring sufficient capacitated staff available to execute activities of the unit at all times.
  • Ensure own team’s performance to achieve the delivery of the approved departmental performance plans.
  • Ensure regular, comprehensive and constructive feedback to the team and conduct the team’s performance planning, monitoring, reviews and appraisals.
  • Ensures consistent implementation and compliance to company policies and procedures, corporate governance including relevant legislations.
  • Manage labour relations matters within the unit including wellness programmes

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Photography, Arts and Culture Management, Visual Studies,
  • Media or Social Sciences or any other related Visual Arts qualification preferably at Post Graduate level.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in photography, visual arts, lens-based practice, arts and culture management or the media industry.
  • Minimum 5 years proven ability in the middle-management of staff and resources.
  • Experience working within an NPO, government or arts entrepreneurship is advantageous
