Minimum Requirements
- A Matric Qualification.
- A degree in Agriculture or relevant qualification.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management role within the broiler breeder sphere.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word).
- IT skills are essential alongside the capability to analyze operational reports, monitoring compliance with policies and procedures.
- A good understanding of modern farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare and an interest in, and understanding of, the ways in which farming impacts the environment.
- A strong interest and understanding of the Agricultural & Farming sector.
- Have an excellent understanding of bird welfare.
- High standard towards housekeeping and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills relating to breeder technical aspects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in English is essential in this position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels in the business.
- An ability to cope under pressure
- Must be able to work weekends and public holidays when required
- Valid Driver’s license & own transportation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Farm Managers on both the Rearing and Laying sites.
- Ensure all livestock is treated humanely, and in compliance with company standards.
- Managing and compliance of a strict bio-security environment and maintaining an effective biosecurity programme by practicing good hygiene, vaccination and disease prevention.
- Coach employees to help develop a clear understanding of the required relating to Animal Welfare, Food Safety and Quality Standards.
- Involve the team by encouragement and motivating to deliver safety excellence and promote risk awareness by getting involved and following safety rules and identifying risks.
- Drive improvement in the performance standards for uniformity of the flock, point of lay cost (POLC), health and animal welfare (up to 21 weeks).
- Conduct postmortems and report findings to the senior ops manager and group veterinarian.
- Record and monitor weekly husbandry parameters.
- Reduce turnover and ensure labour cost base is the most productive, efficient and cost competitive for the industry.
- Manage, monitor and keep within budget, seeking approval for out of scope spend.
- Attending to HR/IR matters (i.e., planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures).
