Key Performance Output 

The successful candidate, reporting to the Manger Airside Operations and will be responsible for the following: 

  • Coordinate the Baggage Operations resources, system & Process. Conduct analysis of current and future and capacity & demand and align resources. 
  • Conduct analysis of current and future capacity and demand and align resources.  
  • Develop contingency plans and manage risks during planned and unplanned events. 
  • Ensure compliance of applicable local and international legislation and regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Contribute to the development of a Baggage Operational plan, SOPs & performance standards to ensure effective & efficient delivery of Baggage Operations. 
  • Implement the Baggage Operational Plan and SOPs and ensure the effective execution of all planned and unplanned activities. 
  • Ensure alignment between implementation of Baggage Operational Plans and internal and external user / Stakeholder plans and requirements. 
  • Ensure that all baggage standard operating procedures are kept updated and relevant. 
  • Utilise benchmarking, surveys and data to continuously improve the baggage operation. 
  • Measure and monitor baggage performance and ensure these performance targets are met through close cooperation with ramp handling companies and relevant stakeholders.  
  • Provide input into the development of maintenance planning programme and execution thereof. 
  • Conduct failure investigation and root cause analysis. 
  • Coordinate effecting outage scheduling. 
  • Manage availability of assets through continuous monitoring and verification. 
  • Consult and give support in commissioning and testing of assets.  
  • Support the procurement of assets and equipment to meet supply and demand targets. 
  • Ensure proactive operational planning to ensure supply and demand targets are met. 
  • Manage Service Level Agreement. 
  • Conduct continuous Audit and quality control (activities and contractual) and implement remedial action where required.  
  • Determine, as part of cross-functional team, evaluation criteria and participate in evaluation and award of bids / tenders received.  
  • Prepare, specify, scope of work and operational requirements. 
  • Compile & submit relevant baggage statistics & performance reports. 
  • Identify and report possible efficiency enhancements and initiatives to ensure resource savings. 
  • Provide relevant & specialized technical & operational support in area of expertise to relevant stakeholders to ensure achievement of objectives. 

Technical Skills and Experience 

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:  

  • Diploma In logistics, Commercial (Supply Chain) industrial engineering or relevant (NQF level 6) is essential. 
  • 3 years operational/ logistics/ industrial engineering experience is essential. 
  • Driver’s License Code B.
