Key roles and responsibilities:
Raw Materials handling and storage
- Interpret and execute barley out loading and malt loading plans
- Interpret and implement storage plans
- Monitor temporary staff for barley sampling and malt loading activities
- Perform barley offloading and malt loading activities
- Plan shift activities to ensure efficient simultaneous barley offloading and malt loading
- Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment
- Performs all autonomous operations (ATO) tasks as per designated requirements
Gate till Hopper
- Opening gate at 06:00 and 14:00 (unless otherwise stated) to allow Spoornet to enter site
- Ensure no authorised people enter site
- Take imported barley samples and remove to Lab
- Weighing in and out of barley, malt and coal trucks and ensure that consigned and received weights are not more than 200kg out
- Check barley hopper is clean prior to off loading
- Responsibile in executing 5S and ATO activities
- Allocate Silo’s
- Trucks to be offloaded within 1 hour after receiving ATO slips
Dispatch
- Check that all road / rail trucks are QC passed before malt loading
- Checking trucks are cleaned before malt loading
- Brooming malt trucks (36 tonnes per truck) and M/S and A/S
- Ensure that malt out loading area is cleaned daily once trucks dispatched
- Ensure trucks are not leaking oil
- Ensure malt trucks are sealed prior to dispatch and that all documentation are faxed to Spoornet
Hygiene
- Cleaning of all weighbridges
- Cleaning of all rail points
- Cleaning of spillages that occur during shift, hopper, and weighbridges
Perform administration
- Completion of all shift reporting systems (MES)
- Updating planning board
- Completion of Shunter checklist per shift
- Complete shift handover sheet
- Contribute to self and team development
- Ensure application of all administration systems and procedures
- Communicates on an ongoing basis with Silo Block Lead (Or Process Lead on weekend Standby) to establish activities and sequences of activities and to report problems.
- Responsible for ongoing checks and observation to ensure correct functioning of equipment in span of control.
- Takes corrective action, which includes stopping faulty equipment and reporting problems to Silo Block Lead (Or Process Lead on weekend Standby
Problem solving
- Apply VPO techniques for problem solving and decision making
- Apply frontline problem solving and decision-making techniques and principles through the Quick fix routine procedures and Problem Terminator Digital Tool
Minimum requirements:
- Matric.
- Valid Locomotive truck drivers license
- 2-3 months on-the-job training
- 2 to 6 weeks on the job training.
- Ordinary communication skills.
- Verbal ability.
- Good eyesight in both eyes.
- Numerate.
- Physically Fit
