THE POSITION/JOB:

  • Determines the product characteristics based on customer and / or specification requirements nd correcting all distribution related protection settings
  • Monitor product performance for quality and throughput and initiate actions to optimize throughput (quality, cost, volume and yield)
  • Setting up process parameters for new products to be made
  • Conduct disposition decision making (NCRs) 
  • Managing work performed by the process metallurgy team in the Hot and cold products areas of the business and covers all process from raw materials to final cutting processes
  • Liaison with: commercial, TCS and Inspection for customer needs
  • Conduct problem solving and optimization work through short, medium or long term project management. #PNet

Requirements

  • Have B.Sc Metallurgy / Metallurgical Engineering (Physical Metallurgy / Material science)/ B.Eng or related field
  • Have 7 – 10 Experience as a Metallurgist
  • Ideally have a BSC or B Eng  Honours in metallurgy or related field
  • Management qualification (MDP)
  • Provide technical support to direct team as well as support to manufacturing plant areas and related facilities in the plant
  • Have stainless steel product knowledge, manufacturing processes knowledge (Pyro metallurgy, annealing pickling, hot / cold rolling)
  • Have analytical skills, pay attention to detail, and be a conceptual thinker.
  • Be willing to work overtime and do standby
