PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The purpose of the Buyers Assistant is to provide support to the National Procurement Manager and Category Buyers. Ensuring the smooth operations within the Procurement team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic support to the National procurement team, assisting in various support functions
  • Managing the promotional timelines, ensure the procurement team deliver on time execution
  • Collating and documenting the trading terms for the business, in conjunction with the National Procurement Manager
  • Management of all GIM, Growth Overrider’s for the business, running reports and tracking income
  • Maintaining the Private label Brand roll out process & timelines, nationally with assistance of the Marketing department teams, ensuring their compliance & execution.
  • Assisting the Procurement team with the merchandising flows by format and by Cluster
  • Maintain the category Data Integrity in accordance to the Hierarchy

OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Weekly updates to be provided on Private label timelines
  • Assist in the reporting for supplier management to be ongoing with strategic quarterly reviews to be set up with larger suppliers
  • Monthly planning on all promotional calendars to be structured and reviewed
  • Manage supply base on DIFOT Reports – reports to be run and presented to category buyers
  • Management of all supplier Data, to include Trading terms, Certification, private label agreements
  • Monthly review tracker to be managed on all GIM related suppliers
  • Assistance on buyer category flows & Planograms Implementation into the Econofoods Retail stores.
  • Manage the Procurement teams Weekly REX updates
  • Manage and control the Calendar meetings within Procurement
  • Manage the new product listing process
  • Manage the new supplier listing process
  • General office admin and ad hoc duties as required by the department

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field (advantageous).
  • Proven 2+ years of experience in Admin support in the category planning, demand planning, inventory management, or a similar role in retail or FMCG.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to identify challenges and develop practical solutions to address them.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
