Job Purpose
- Provide efficient and effective administrative support for accident and health insurance policy servicing and operations, ensuring excellent customer service, accurate processing, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical expertise
- Work within delegated underwriting authority limits and maintain all underwriting best practices and standards within service level agreements
- Policy Servicing
- Responsible for full policy servicing of new and renewals business, issuance of adjustments, declarations and endorsements, are issued accurately, efficiently in a timely manner by rating and or capturing transactions to the core business system
- Verify client information and validate policy details
- Ensure timely issuance of policy documents as per regulatory requirements
- Communicate effectively with internal and external partners and stakeholders
- Recode keeping of all policy contracts and correspondence in a robust, timely and diligent manner
- Operations Support
- Maintain accurate records and databases and policy records
- Perform data capturing and data validation tasks
- Assist with reporting and statistical analysis
- Participate in internal audits and compliance checks
- Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service via phone, email, and written correspondence
- Resolve client complaints and manage escalation matters to the relevant channels
- Build strong relationships with all partners such as brokers, clients, and stakeholders
- Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure stringent adherence to all regulatory requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information securely
- Identify and report potential risks or compliance issues
- Team Participation
- Function and thrive within a team environment by actively participating, supporting, contributing and collaborating to the betterment of the team, products, services and efficiencies
Required Knowledge and Experience
Experience
- 1-2 years’ experience in insurance policy servicing and operations
- Strong history of administrative and organizational skills
- Excellent and efficient communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work within agreed service level agreements and timelines
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong adherence to compliance and underwriting best practice
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- General underwriting knowledge (ability to interpret policy wording, understanding inter-relationship between claims and underwriting)
- General insurance terminology
- General legal knowledge (prescription act, insurance act, FAIS)
- Basic risk assessment knowledge
Skills
- Proficient in latest versions of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with general insurance software systems
- Strong data capturing and data analysis skills
Educational Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12/NQF Level 4 certification
- Relevant tertiary qualification – or studying towards a tertiary qualification (certificate or diploma in insurance, business administration) advantageous
- 1-2 years’ experience in insurance policy servicing and operations
- FAIS (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services) certification (or willingness to obtain)
