Accountant Job at Salt South Africa

Overview:

• Our client is looking for an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. This role would suit someone who enjoys a hands-on accounting position and is confident working across reconciliations, month-end processes, VAT and day-to-day financial administration.
• You’ll work closely with the Financial Manager while also supporting junior finance team members where required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day accounting transactions and supplier reconciliations.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, journals and payment schedules.
• Assist with month-end processes and financial reporting.
• Maintain fixed asset records and reconcile to the general ledger.
• Prepare VAT schedules and supporting reconciliations.
• Assist with audits and SARS-related requirements.
• Support and guide junior finance staff when required.

Requirements:

• Accounting degree.
• 3+ years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
• Good knowledge of IFRS / IFRS for SMEs.
• Working knowledge of South African tax requirements.
• Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
