What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:

  • The successful candidate will need to be flexible, have good organisational and interpersonal skills with an exemplary work ethic, drive, and attention to detail. The position reports to the Head of the High School and Academic Head and works in collaboration with the academic staff.
  • Commitment to the school’s ethos, values and vision are essential. This position is a full time, permanent position. Curro Hillcrest has a strong Christian foundation, and the successful candidate must be willing to promote and support this foundation.

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualities, and be responsible for the following:

  • SACE registered.
  • Extensive IEB experience is a recommendation.
  • Be an appropriately qualified Afrikaans FAL teacher.
  • Having matric marking experience will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work well in a team; whilst creating positive working relationships with respective role players.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Energetic, creative, self-motivated and an innovative teacher.
  • Plan, prepare and present interesting and exciting Afrikaans lessons.
  • Establish a teaching environment that is nurturing, and which promotes engaged learning.
  • Behave in a professional manner with regard to punctuality, behaviour, and standards of work.
  • Evaluate, reflect on, and refine teaching practice.
  • Be open to continuously develop ones teaching through personal and school wide professional development.
  • Teach extra lessons, when required.
  • Be fully involved in the High School’s extramural programme.
  • Produce resources of a high standard for students.
  • Respond to e-mails and telephone messages from parents within 24 hours.
  • Set and mark assessments and all other forms of student evaluation.
  • Write report comments.
  • Attend all special occasions at the discretion of the relevant Head.
