Job Description
Tactical Implementation

  • Assist with driving best practice, iterative improvement and innovation across commercial operations
  • Work with team leads to provide recommendations to various business units and influences future plans based on insights
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders throughout the organisation to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions

Channel Analytics and Performance

  • Conduct an effective analysis of channels operational insights, and key performance metrics. This includes gathering, processing, visualising and analysing sales, industry, and market data, both from within and outside the organisation to develop sales productivity improvement strategies for Commercial Operations MTN SA
  • Consult and collaborate with BICC regarding advanced analytics and deep learning algorithms to solve business problems
  • Collaborate with other functions to drive and where applicable enhance the utilisation of models, algorithms and software that help solve business problems
  • Research and develop custom predictive data models for Commercial Business Units where required
  • Identify trends, patterns and discrepancies in data and determine additional data needed to support insight specific to AI Proposition
  • Analyse data from across the commercial databases to drive optimisation and improvement of MTN SA’s data quality and compliance
  • Provide on-going tracking and monitoring of performance of decision systems and statistical models
  • Analyse data to develop data-driven insights, applying analytical results to Channels goals, identifying trends across MTN SA and translating results into actionable recommendations

Reporting

  • Develop and submit reports addressing periodic activity, budget compliance, feedback and key departmental results to facilitate decision making
  • Build diagnostic reports that provides insights to predictive business performance & identify opportunities to grow market share:
  • Prepaid and Post-paid base management across Channels( IBRO)
  • Channel economics
  • Retail/Dealer Store benchmark & profitability analysis
  • Competitor store footprint analysis & Benchmark
  • Competitor proposition Analysis across channel
  • Communicate to business units the various predictions and findings through effective data visualizations and reports

Job Outcome

  • Prescriptive analytics to influence decision making. This includes: Data Analytics, Financial reporting, Predictive sales modelling
  • Improved sharing and adoption of best practice
  • Improved resolution of business problems using Analytics and AI
  • Improved compliance with privacy laws & regulations 
  • Optimized processes, new initiatives and improved operations/ways of work
  • Successful implementation of MTN Group & MTNSA transformation initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Advanced Analytics, mathematics, or related quantitative fields

Minimum 1-2 years’ experience including:

  • Experience in a data science environment, Experience working in a medium to large organisation
  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantages
  • Knowledge of modern Big Data platforms
  • Programming

Required Skills

  • Big data tools (Spark, Hive, etc)
  • Data analysis tools
  • Data science and analytics
  • Power BI, Tableau etc.
  • Programming skills (R, SAS, Python, C++, Java)
  • Reporting skills
