About the Role

This technical role manages high-RPM engineering data and ensures the operational reliability of complex mining and industrial electrical systems. Utilizing SAP for materials management and ServiceNow for equipment incident tracking, the electrician ensures 100% compliance with mining health and safety standards. Their work reduces operational risk by ensuring precise maintenance execution and leveraging data-driven diagnostics to optimize machine uptime in demanding environments.

The Role:

  • Provides technical support in mechanical maintenance. Maintains and improves machines and equipment to increase or maintain a high level of reliability, availability, cost efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical maintenance operations.
  • Preventive maintenance, perform corrective actions, supports planning and preparation, monitors outcome, documentation (outcome, root cause, time, improvements).
  • Work in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Achievement of maintenance targets.
  • Follow quality and cleanliness standards.
  • Communication of operational status and any deviations.
  • Safety and housekeeping (5S) requirements.
  • Continuous improvements and development on a personal and operational level.

Profile Required:

  • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification
  • Section 26D Trade Certificate, accompanied with proof of apprenticeship.
  • Basic Computer literacy
  • English proficiency
  • Relevant mining experience (5 years)
  • Relevant mechanized mining experience (5 years)
  • Underground mining environment
  • Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining environment

Career Growth & Education

An N3 certificate and a red seal trade test are mandatory for this specialized engineering path, with growth supported by mastering industrial automation. Professionals can advance to Foreman or Maintenance Manager roles by completing a Diploma in Electrical Engineering and pursuing specialized bootcamps in PLC programming.
