Artisan – Fitter needed at Sandvik

The Role

• Carry out maintenance, repairs and inspection activities on components, using diverse tools and techniques, with limited supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair and replace parts, following instructions and technical equipment manuals.
• Interpret basic mechanical designs and maintenance manuals for assembling and dismantling to make necessary alignments and adjustments.
• Perform maintenance tasks independently and verify task results and tracks operating equipment to detect possible problems.
• Report and document executed work according to relevant procedures and work instructions.
• Explain basic operating procedures to the customer and refer to responsible/relevant person.
• Give feedback to line manager/team leader with regards to equipment maintenance and service challenges.
• Prepare and execute all activities in line with SHEQ rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and promote awareness, including addressing anomalies to others.

Profile Required

• Grade 12/equivalent qualification
• Trade Certificate – Fitter (accompanied by apprenticeship contract or apprenticeship portfolio of evidence)
• Relevant mining experience (5 years)
• Relevant mechanised mining experience (5 years)
• Underground/surface mining environment
• Maintenance of earthmoving equipment in mining/construction environment
• Physical and medical ability to work in a mining environment
• Basic computer literacy
• English proficiency
• Valid driver’s license
