Artisan: Plumber (Five Position) needed at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualifications and experience required:

• Trade-tested Artisan: Plumber Certificate and Special Workman (preferably a proficiency) Certificate.
• A valid Code EC driver’s licence with PrDP.
• One to two years’ relevant experience.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Physically fit and able-bodied.
• Required to work in all weather conditions and outside normal working hours during emergencies and planned overtime.
• Required to be on standby.
• The physical attributes associated with this post necessitate that the incumbent is physically fit and able-bodied to perform the relevant functions, and as such, shortlisted candidates will be required to submit themselves to the Municipal Medical Doctor to be medically examined as part of the selection process.

Job purpose:

• Co-ordinating and controlling the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialised tasks/activities associated with the installation, maintenance and repair to water reticulation mains, municipal plumbing and meters, including monitoring and correcting the productivity and performance outputs of support personnel, and attending to routine/general administrative recording requirements in order to ensure downtime and disruptions is minimised contributing positively towards sustaining acceptable service delivery standards.
• As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
