About the Role

The Assistant Director drives operational excellence by managing high-RPM human capital data and ensuring 100% compliance with national labor regulations and personnel practices. Utilizing Workday for employee lifecycle management and Oracle for financial record integration, the director mitigates operational risk in public sector HR. Their leadership is pivotal for leveraging data-driven insights to optimize workforce deployment and ensure the administrative integrity of health services.

  • Appropriate 3-year National DiplomaDegree or equivalent NQF6 qualification in the Human Resource related field.
  • Appropriate experience in Human Resource Management. Appropriate experience in a supervisory or a managerial position in Human Resource Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency. Ability to function as a team player, with or without supervision. Ability to function under stressful environment and cope with a heavy workload. Leadership capabilities, managerial and organisational skills. Ability to manage conflict and function under pressure. Ability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation, policies and prescripts. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet).
  • No payment of any kind is required when applying for this post. Candidates may undergo a Competency Based Administration. The pool of applicants will be considered for other vacant Assistant Director: Human Resource Management posts within the Chief Director Emergency & Clinical Services Support, for a period of 3 months from date of advert. Candidates will be subjected to a written/practical and oral assessment. PLEASE NOTE: The People Management Offices will be relocating onto the premises of Alexandra Hospital.
  • Responsible for the effective management of the APL (including the APL budget), HR Planning and Job Evaluation processes, Establishment Control, Recruitment, Selection, Transfer and appointment of staff within the Compensation management prescripts. Responsible for the effective management of the Staff Performance Management System and Job Descriptions in EMS.
  • Conduct training to staff and line mangers and provide support and guidance within the scope of the above profile. Responsible for the investigation of grievances/disputes linked to recruitment and selection and performance management processes.
  • Serve as nodal point for maintaining and reporting on integrated HR Information (within the scope of profile) to stakeholders. Effective management and development of sub ordinates and co-ordinate an equitable workflow.
  • Valid drivers’ licence. Willingness to travel throughout the province, stay overnight when required and work overtime. Thorough knowledge of the Departmental policies, prescripts and Acts that govern the functions below.
  • R 468 459 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer’s contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).
