Minimum Requirements:

  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably a National Diploma or BCom with Financial Accounting as a major subject
  • Completed the Municipal Minimum Competency levels or required to complete the Municipal Minimum Competency within 18 months of appointment
  • Computer literate: MS OFFICE (Excel and Word)
  • Valid Code B driver’s license
  • 6 years relevant experience required which includes 2 years of supervisory experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • Board 1 of the CA(SA) exams (Initial test of Competence) from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) or CA(SA) qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post articles experience
  • Experience in compilation of Final Accounts and Financial Statements

Duties will entail:

  • To provide accurate financial statements, monthly financial management reporting, statistical information, returns, grant budgeting and administration, budgetary control, liaising with auditors and responsible for direct management of senior accountants of the AFS and Returns department
  • To meet all statutory requirements with regards to reporting and finalizing financial statements and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with relevant prescriptions of the MFMA, DORA, GRAP and other reporting legislative requirements
