About the Role

The Assistant Storekeeper manages high-RPM materials data and ensures the technical 100% compliance of inventory workflows within a mining environment. Utilizing SAP for materials management and ServiceNow for equipment tracking, the storekeeper reduces operational risk in the supply chain. Their role is critical for leveraging data to ensure the accurate fulfillment of technical orders and maintaining the commercial efficiency of the mine’s inventory ecosystem.

  • The successful applicant will report to the Material Controller or nominee.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate.
  • Certificate: Store Keeping & Stock Control.
  • Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
  • Forklift Driver’s License
  • Advantageous: Supervisory Certificate.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

  • 2 year’s Stores / Material Management in a Plant / Mining environment.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

  • Coordinate and supervise the issuing and receiving functions of the Stores section as well as housekeeping and preservation of the stock.
  • Effectively solve and report queries related to the Issuing Sections. Generate reports regarding stock levels and un-actioned pick slips.
  • Support the receiving / issuing of the Store section. Monitor the availability of stock items in the stores for the purpose of production needs. Ensure correct storage and handling requirements for spares and equipment according to procedures. Assist in coordinating Receiving /Issuing of stock items according to processes and procedures. Reconcile and update all Issuing documentation. Coordinate cycle counts. Minimize and resolve cycle count variances. Reconcile physical balance with JDE balance for all stock. Ensure effective financial controls are applied.
  • Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Perform PTO’s and issuebased risk assessments as and when required.
  • Ensure mine-wide availability of fuel.
  • Supervise own team’s activities whilst ensuring safe working practices.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure good working relationships.

An N3 certificate or National Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain Management is the standard requirement, with growth supported by mastering lean manufacturing.
