Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
- To Place and expedite orders on Local Suppliers to ensure components arrive on time to meet the Master production Schedule, and there are no production losses arising from late or no supply of components. Communicate with Suppliers regularly, sending relevant reports, including Forecasts for supplier planning. Track engineering changes to ensure minimum to no obsolescence arising from changes. Ensure constant communication with the superintendent and manager regarding potential risks to production. Maintain excellent communication with internal customers.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Matric/Grade 12.
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management or related qualification.
- SAP experience.
- 2-3 years’ experience in Manufacturing and Stores department.
- Computer literacy in MS Word/Excel.
- Strong collaboration skills.
- Must be able to work in a pressurized environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Place new orders on suppliers for components required as per the MPS.
- Send forecasts to suppliers timeously.
- Run action list to view current priorities.
- Keep priorities current by placing new orders, delaying, pulling forward and if required, cancelling open orders in keeping with changes to the MPS.
- Notify suppliers regarding these actions.
- Run daily shortage lists for 5-days horizon to highlight and track possible shortage of components for production.
- Expedite orders to ensure components arrive on time and there are no production losses.
- Maintain communication and physical checks with the stores for critical shortages on daily basis.
- Monitor supplier receipts against delivery schedule and maintain zero outstanding orders.
- Advise Material Planning of possible shortages and problems.
- Check with suppliers for any anticipated problems regarding delivery of orders due for the near future.
- Manage component monthly inventory levels in line with business targets.
- Ensure reduction on return to Vendor stock.
- Identify Bought-Out components obsolescence and introduce a reduction plan to minimize the obsolescence.
- Taking ownership of your stocks/parts.
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety and Security regulations.
- Ensure that good housekeeping is always maintained.
